Face Painting at the Library!

Theme: Face Painting at the Library!

Goal of Session or Activity:  As part of the; “You Never Know @You Library” summer reading theme 2007 the tween class explored the art of disguise.  The students paired off for this activity with instructor helping to trouble shoot through out the process. 

Books and Materials featured:  Examples of painted faces were obtained from seveal web sites. Store bought face paints were used.  Fabric was used to drape over clothing.  Mirrors were provided to allow participants to check on progress.

Number attending:  Nine students attended.

A poster was made with before and after photos and displayed in the library.   

Tween Art/Writing Program

This is an art and writing program that is held one evening a week at a public library in PA.  The program is open to the public and has been running continuously for about 6 years.  On occasion themes have been followed.  Generally the program alternates with art one week and writing the next.  The program is designed and delivered by two individuals who are also on the library staff.  From time to time there have been assistants and out side speakers invited.

Mission Statement

The purpose of this web-log is to document the activities of a youth art and writing class that meets one evening a week at a public library.  Topics and materials will be included.  A basic syllabus will be provided.  Photo documentation of works will be added when possible.
