  • Theme:  Art/Lamps and Shades
  • Goal of Session or Activity:  Each student will create a lamp with a “found object.”  Instructor will enlist the help of an electrician to apply lamp kit.  Student will decorate and/or embellish the lamp shade of their choice .
  • Books and/or Materials featured: 40 watt light bulbs, bottle lamp kits, wooden bases, Dow rods 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch, various found objects, various lamp shades, hand drill, wood screws and washers, Gorilla brand glue, paint, fabrics and embellishments.  Note:  Found object were brought in prior to today’s class.  Lamp base and or bottle lamp kit was installed prior to class.  Bases were painted in a previous class.
  • Number Attending : Eleven Students and one instructor.

Theme:  Christmas Party and Game:  Apples to Apples

Goal of Session or Activity:  Fun and comeradery in the holiday spirit.  Also playing together is a way to build group dynamic and learn more about each other.  This is a thinking game so one may even learn something new if one is not careful!

Tween Art/Writing Program

This is an art and writing program that is held one evening a week at a public library in PA.  The program is open to the public and has been running continuously for about 6 years.  On occasion themes have been followed.  Generally the program alternates with art one week and writing the next.  The program is designed and delivered by two individuals who are also on the library staff.  From time to time there have been assistants and out side speakers invited.

The purpose of this web-log is to document the activities of a youth art and writing class that meets one evening a week at a public library.  Topics and materials will be included.  A basic syllabus will be provided.  Photo documentation of works will be added when possible.
